In memory of

Joseph Ross

April 15, 1931 -  January 21, 2021

On January 21, 2021, peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, Joe Ross, loving husband of Anne (nee Coad), passed away at Hospice Peterborough, Ontario. Joe was the much-adored father of Joe (Denise), Wendy (Dave), and Jeff (Evelyn), and was predeceased by his much loved first wife, their mother, Gladys (nee Zilinski). Joe was also a loving stepfather to Leane (Brian), Diane (Tom), and Brenda (Randy). Fondly remembered by his sister Barb Ross, and predeceased by brothers Thomas, and Bill. Cherished by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and extended family near and far. He will be missed by friends young and old.

Joe was a quiet, hard-working man with a heart of gold. He had a wonderful sense of humour and was known for his jokes with a smile that lit up the room. He had a gift for storytelling (fact and fiction!), and a penchant for scaring the 'bejeezus' out of many!

Joe started his journey in the Sheet Metal trade in 1950, and quickly became well liked, well known, and respected as a true craftsman. One of the very few elite that completely understood his trade including complex fabrication, estimating, project management, as well as running his own sheet metal shop. Some of his past projects were the St Lawrence Center and Darlington Nuclear Generating Station. Joe's skills were not lost but passed on to all that he worked with as he took the time to share and teach.

Anne and family wish to express their immense gratitude to Dr. Mallory and the nurses and supporting staff at Hospice Peterborough and Peterborough Palliative Care. Joe was well loved and cared for with extreme compassion by all who came to know him.

Due to Covid restrictions, a private family burial service will take place at this time. The family looks forward to having a larger gathering to celebrate Joe’s life in the future. Donations to the Hospice Peterborough or Peterborough Regional Health Centre would be appreciated by the family in Joe’s memory.
