January 19, 2022
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Joseph Michael Teixeira at home, on his 84th birthday, on January 19th, 2022.
Joseph is survived by his devoted wife, Camilla of 53 years, caring daughter Maria, loving grandchildren Dawn and Cole, Sister Marie, brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, many nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces, and nephews.
Joseph is predeceased by his parents Henry & Mary Teixeira, his brothers Edward and Anthony (Nora), and his sisters Celeste, Phil (Stanislaus), and Cecilia (Cyril), his son-in-law Endre and his mother and father in-law Olga and Francis Gonsalves-Teixeira.
Joseph was born in Friendship Village, Guyana and lived in England for 18 years before settling in Canada in 1979. He was hardworking, compassionate, good natured, generous, and committed to everything he accomplished. Joseph was very dedicated to his faith. He travelled to many countries and visited several religious sites. Every moment Joseph spent with family was full of fun and laughter. He enjoyed clowning around with the younger crowd and was a perfect babysitter. As a doting grandfather, he looked forward to trips to the park, experiencing ‘first time’ events, train rides and picnics. Joseph spent his pastime listening to Jim Reeves, Daniel O’Donnell, and various spiritual music. He will forever be remembered for playing board games with his family especially scrabble, drafts, and dominoes. When home, Joseph took pleasure in gardening and kept a manicured lawn. His infectious personality brought out the best in all of us and will be dearly missed.
Thank you to everyone who made his life comfortable in the last seven years.
