In memory of

Joseph Michael Fusz

January 22, 1954 -  October 6, 2024

Joseph Michael Fusz ("Joe") passed away peacefully on October 6, 2024 surrounded by his family, following a year-long battle with cancer.

Joe was a loving husband to his wife of 45 years Elizabeth ("Bets"); devoted dad to his children Jason, Jennifer (Chris), and Victoria (Jordan); and proud papa to his grandchildren Jameson and Penelope. Joe was also loved by his dogs Spud, Cooper, and Miller.

Born and raised in the former East York to his parents Tony and Helen and his sisters Barbara and Jean, Joe knew the city like the back of his hand and loved it dearly. Despite his small stature, Joe's larger than life appetite made him a connoisseur of the Scarborough food scene.

An avid golfer, Joe earned the nickname 'Joe Fairway' for his consistency and reliability off the tee.

Keeping with his career as a tool and die maker, which taught him precision and attention to detail, Joe became a Lego aficionado during the course of this treatment.

Joe was known for his work ethic and dedication but his most rewarding 'career' was the year spent as CEO of Papa's Daycare with his favourite girl, Penny.

The Fusz family sincerely thanks the doctors and nurses at both the Sunnybrook Odette Cancer Centre and Scarborough Health Network Palliative Care Unit for their compassion and commitment to Joe's care.

In lieu of flowers, donations to either the Sunnybrook Odette Cancer Centre or Scarborough Health Network would be appreciated.

Dear Bets and family, please accept our condolences on your loss of Joe. Reid has many fond memories of all the shenanigans that he,Joe,Rick and Chris got up to back in the day. My favourite was how they pushed Joe through the Reininger’s milk box in order to get in the house!! Rick kept them all connected through the years, so they could get together for lunch or dinner and reminisce. We are thinking of you.
