Joseph "Jo Jo" Johnson

With deepest sorrow and love in our hearts we celebrate the final ceremony of Joseph Ivan Burns Johnson, Papa Jo, JoJo, Nahpayshish Napwe (Young Boy Man). Joe’s mother Gretta Knott (Nee: News) and father Ivan Johnson. Siblings: Theresa, Gerald, Michael, Cindy, Judith (Jae Jae) Crystal, Kevin, Linda, Gretta, Cheri, Kim, April. Joe was previously married to Dale Johnson; and was a incredible father to Brooks (Laurie) and Tanya (Anthony). Papa Jo was a loving Grandfather to Michael, Breeze and Raven. He was fun-filled uncle, neighbour and friend to many. A spiritual Chief and Elder to many in the community, a father, Grandfather, Bro, Uncle, Nephew, and Son in the ceremonial community. Joe had many talents; one as a Red Seal HVAC specialists working along side his beloved nephew Ivan. He was Integral to the creation of the unity button collecting donations and advocating as a humble footsoldier to bring awareness to indigenous culture and mainstream knowledge to current issues that face this population; such as lack of clean drinking water. Joe shared his love of this beautiful life to all he met. His spirit left his body peacefully on July 7, 2022; cared for by many family members and friends, his nurse Andy, and Dr. Marcus ensured he was comfortable throughout his journey. We thank the many doctors, nurses, and those at Scarborough General, Saint Elizabeth Health and Lakeridge Hospital, Native Canadian Centre, Anishnawbe Health. His loved ones Jimmy, Marie, Nick, Penny, Mandy, Aaron and many more alongside were taking care of his final life wishes. It’s a Beautiful Life~AHO
