Joseph Carmen Sardella
September 9, 1947 – September 18, 2026

Joseph Carmen Sardella, known to many as Joey and Uncle Joey, passed away on September 18, 2026.

Joseph was predeceased by his wife, Doris; his mother, Dorothy; his father, Carmen; and his three sisters, Mary, Margaret, and Frances. He is survived by his children, his brother-in-law Peter, and his many nieces and nephews.

Joseph was born in Toronto on September 9, 1947. He shared his birthday with his eldest sister, Mary, who was born exactly 12 years earlier.

Growing up, Joseph was fortunate to have three older sisters—Mary, Margaret, and Frances—who all played a part in raising their younger brother. It is safe to say that growing up with three sisters gave Joseph an acute awareness from an early age of exactly who ran the house.

In his younger years, Joseph was an accomplished athlete. He played football throughout high school and within his local community. His love of sports continued throughout his life, and he became a passionate supporter of football, hockey, and baseball. One particularly memorable experience was attending the Grey Cup Game and festivities in 2011.

Joseph also had a lifelong love of vehicles and collectibles. Perhaps his interest in vehicles began with his father, Carmen, who drove a tow truck. That passion ultimately became part of Joseph's working life, as he went on to become an accomplished professional long-haul truck driver.

Joseph was loved by many, and he will be deeply missed by all those whose lives he touched. He will be remembered as Joey, Uncle Joey, a father, brother, uncle, and friend.

In lieu of flowers, Joseph's wish was that donations be made in his memory to SickKids. Donations may be made directly through the SickKids Foundation.
