In memory of

Jose Oliveira

June 15, 1951 -  July 23, 2022

On the evening of Saturday July 23, our dear Jose “Joe” Oliveira passed away at our home on Alton Ave. He had just turned 71 on June 15. He left us suddenly and unexpectedly but peacefully while sitting outside his beloved home.
Jose Oliveira was born in Arrifes, Sao Miguel, Azores on June 15, 1951 to loving parents Gil Oliveira and Serafina Couto. He leaves behind his devoted and loving wife of almost 47 years, Liberia Oliveira. He is survived by his children Paulo, Sonia, Ricky, Catarina (David), Michael (Shantelle), and his beautiful grandchildren: Tori, Jordana, and Adelina. He also leaves behind his caring brothers, Manuel (deceased), Gil, and big sister Maria (deceased).
Joe was a simple person who loved a simple life. He loved barbeque and having friends and family over for a good time. He loved to laugh, joke around and tell stories. He was always positive, loved peace, hated fights, and had a soft heart for his children and grandchildren. He loved animals- Simba, Bella and Panda Bear to name a few. He loved to watch the Weather Network, Portuguese news at 5pm, soccer, wrestling (WWF & WWE), Just for Laughs Gags and talk shows- Steve was one of his favorites.
Joe and his young family came to Toronto on one cold day in January 1989. Joe was a devoted family man who worked hard to provide for his family. He woke up early in the morning when most were still asleep and went to work even when sick. He was dedicated to ensuring his family succeeds and have a chance of a better life than his own. He taught his family the true meaning of resilience by the way he lived his life.
Thank you Joe for being a devoted husband, a loving and protecting father and grandfather, a loyal brother, and the best friend to everyone you met.
Joe liked to say, “Take it easy” …. “It’s okay”
Luke 23:43- Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”
May he rest peacefully in eternal life.

It was only a month ago that we celebrated Joe's 71st birthday with barbecue at the deck at the back of the house, the place he liked to go to enjoy the breeze.

I was extremely shocked to hear the sad news that Joe was no more. He has left such a void that cannot be filled.

May his soul rest in eternal peace. Amen
