In memory of
Jonathan Krumins
May 9, 1978 -
August 17, 2019
Jonathan Krumins was born on May 9th, 1978 in Etobicoke, Ontario and passed away on August 17, 2019 in Tobermory, Ontario. He attended the University of Toronto and built a career in the financial services industry, most recently supporting credit unions across Canada. He loved his family, friends, and clients. He is remembered by his wife Amber D. Scott and their partner Rodney MacInnes; his mother Lesly Krumins; his father Andris Krumins and partner Anita Bredovskis; his brother Eric Krumins, sister in law Aynsley Moorhouse and nephews Jack and Finn; his cousins in Latvia, Andris and Janis Krumins and their families; and his aunt and uncle Mara and Gerry Komuves, whom he considered role models.
Jonathan loved travel, adventure, local politics and solving problems. Whether it was caring for his family members, helping his friends with projects and repairs, or mastering escape rooms at the last minute, he was always there for the people he loved. He idolized James Bond, and had dreams of becoming a spy. We don’t think he ever did, but we can’t actually be sure (Hey CSIS call us?). He wanted to be the most interesting guy in the room, having tried repeatedly to encourage his friends to use the nickname J-Man (it didn’t catch on, but every now and again it would make an appearance to his delight).
The funeral service will take place at York Funeral Centre, 160 Beecroft Road, North York, ON M2N 5Z5
Visitation: Saturday August 24, 2019, 9:30am-10:30am
Chapel Service: Saturday August 24, 2019, 10:30am
Luncheon: to follow at the Latvian Centre, 4 Credit Union Dr, North York, ON M4A 2N8
The family encourages attendees to dress in a way that invites happy memories of Jonathan. Whether it be your university sweater, a tuxedo, or your finest steam punk costume. At least one of you should stand silently at the back of the room, watching the rest of us closely, holding an umbrella and smoking a cigarette, and then leave without speaking to anyone. Let it bring a smile to your face as you remember your time with J-Man.
Friends are encouraged to contribute anecdotes (requested by Amber and not to be shared publicly) and photos of Jonathan here: https://bit.ly/2KLdjTK
In lieu of flowers, we encourage donations to an education fund for his beloved nephews. He was looking forward to being the uncle that spoiled them. Donations can be made via credit card or bitcoin (BTC) here: https://bit.ly/2zb0YS7
