In memory of

Roy Ernest Johnson

November 9, 1928 -  March 15, 2023

After 94 full years of life, Roy Ernest Johnson passed peacefully on March 15, 2023 at MacKenzie Health Hospital. Devoted husband, confidante, and travel buddy to Elizabeth Ann (deceased) for 72 amazing years; he joins her again after her recent passing.

Roy Ernest loved his family beyond all else and was a dedicated and cherished Father to Shaun (deceased), Roy David (Ilka), Dean (Karen) and Kalin (Catherine) and loving Brother to Lorraine (Jim, deceased).
His Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren will dearly miss his warms hugs and words of love and praise. He was a wonderful role model and their greatest cheerleader. He also gave the best speeches. Caring and proud Grandfather and Great-Grandfather to Laura (Michael, Amelia & Olivia), Elizabeth, Jessica (Nathan), Rachel & Eric and Ashley (Scott, Felix & Summer) & Norm, and Haley, Kalin and Mikayla.

Always a true gentleman with class and honor, Roy will be greatly missed by his extended family, friends, and business associates. A dedicated and hard-working business-owner of his family’s 2nd generation book-binding business, Reliable Bookbinders, for more than 45 years, earning Scarborough’s Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Award in 1996.

Roy’s greatest joys were celebrating family events, playing cards, travelling the world with his wife, delighting in his retirement in his sunny backyard at Earl Road and spending time at the cottage on Lake Kamaniskeg. He introduced his wife to sailing and they enjoyed their times on Lake Ontario in “the Snib”. Roy also had fun curling with his friends at the Scarborough Curling Club.

The family would like to thank the staff at MacKenzie Health Hospital and Brookside Retirement Home for their care and compassion.

Family and friends will be received at Pine Hills Cemetery and Visitation Centre (625 Birchmount Road, 416-267-8229) on Friday, March 31, 2023, from 4pm to 8pm. A private family service will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023. Interment to follow in June 2023.

We are already missing your warm smile and happy heart. Thank you for always being there for all of us - always present and in the moment. The kids have all said how much they loved their conversations with you. You were our greatest cheerleader and most enthusiastic supporter. I feel so blessed to have had you in my life as a Father-in-Law and friend.

I would like to pass along my condolences to the Johnson family on the loss of your Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. Roy was a great man of loyalty and integrity. My husband Wayne a long time employee of Reliable Bookbinders always admired Roy. He was a great boss and always treated Wayne with great respect. He lived a good life. We had many fun times at the social events. I am sure he will be greatly missed by all his family.
