In memory of

John Walter Giles

December 22, 1948 -  November 16, 2022

The Giles family is deeply saddened to announce the passing of John on November 16th, in his 73rd year. John was the beloved husband to Diane for 14 wonderful years; the proud father of Shawn Giles and his wife Lauren. Also, John will be greatly missed by his many nieces, nephews and friends.

John was an avid sportsman! He was a talented life long athlete skilled in many sports like football and golf. John was a dedicated viewer and followed all sports games and events. His encyclopedic mind tracked impressive body of stats and related figures and info.

John was a sportsman of all seasons! He played golf in the summer, squash in the winter. Diane and John spent quality time mastering each other's sports: John took to tennis, Diane to golf.

However, unbeknownst to many, is that John had a passion for crossword puzzles which he completed daily from Toronto newspapers. This made John a veritable wikipedia of information!

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 24th , 1:30-2:00 pm at the York Funeral Center. Memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm and an inurnment will take place at York cemetery (Section R) with a social gathering and light refreshments to follow. In lieu of floral tributes, the Giles family kindly ask that you consider making a donation to Diabetes Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of John Giles. And we extend our heartfelt appreciation to all during this difficult time!

What a wonderful man John was and always full of humour. I am so glad that the last part of your life was shared with your incredible wife Diane who loved you until the very end. She will surely miss you. And so will your dear friends.

So sad to hear of the passing of your dad. I have many memories of your dad and your uncle David They both had the love of crossword puzzles and sports. I was watching the soccer game today and thought of them both and how they would have enjoyed the game
Love aunt Robin
