In memory of

John Thomas Thompson

February 25, 1957 -  October 28, 2018

THOMPSON, John Thomas “Jack”
Passed away peacefully at home on October 28, 2018, surrounded by his loving family after a valiant battle with cancer. He was 61 years old. Loving dad of Andrew, Lynnea, Alannah and late Derek. Proud papa of Arianna, Matteo and Andres. Jack was a loving brother of Darryl (Francine) and Shawna (Rob). He will be fondly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family, by Janice and by the mother of his children, Ann. Those who knew Jack will remember him as a voracious football fan (the Raiders!), spending time at the cottage, and the “occasional” beer. As per his own wishes, there will be no formal funeral service, cremation will take place.
There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Brooklea Golf & Country Club (8567 Highway 93 | Club | 8567 Highway 93 | Midland, ON L4R 4K4) from 1 pm to 4 pm. Jack had also requested that guests wear plaid or checkered clothing.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Raymond Jang, the nursing staff of Princess Margaret Hospital and VHA for their compassion, care and professionalism shown to Jack and his family- words cannot express. Arrangements entrusted to THORNTON FUNERAL CENTRE (1200 Thornton Road, North, Oshawa 905-579-6787).
In lieu of flowers and gifts, donations will be gratefully accepted for Muscular Dystrophy Canada at the celebration of life or online at:

Jack was a dear friend and will be greatly missed. No matter how tough things were, Jack always managed to smile and laugh and tell us to not sweat the small things. He tried so hard to convert us over to Maclays and almost succeeded. His friendship, personality, sense of humour and generosity and smile will always be remembered. Rest in peace Jack. You will always be in our hearts.

So hard to grasp a world without Jack. Lots of special times with him, Lynnea and Alannah at our cottage. He left an impression on all those who met him. Many of our friends would drop by when they heard he was here since they knew it was always entertaining to be around him. We'll miss playing Wizard, doing shots of Sambuca and the endless bottles of Maclays. Not to mention horseshoes, fishing and his crazy love for hot tubbing. He was always there to help out whether it was to build a deck or take over the BBQ to cook for 100 people at Russ' 50th. He was so excited and proud to have built a cottage for him and his girls. His love for his children was unconditional. His eyes lit up whenever he talked about them. Rest in peace Jack. Miss you already! 🙁
