In Loving Memory of John Gilbert Stanley Perera

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Gilbert Perera on Saturday February 5, 2022, in his 93rd year. John is predeceased by his loving wife Doris of almost 38 years, and his siblings Alfred, Beatrice, Christie, Percy, Cyril, Clarise, and Victor. He is dearly loved and will be forever missed by his loving daughter Kushi, son-in-law Sampath Rayen, his cherished granddaughters Natashya and Nirosha, his nephews, nieces, extended family, and friends.

John was a fiercely independent gentleman, deeply religious with strong morals, who enjoyed teaching and travelling. He was devoted to his wife, daughter, and granddaughters and was blessed with a full and happy life. He had a passion for History and Geography and travelled the world, having lived in Sri Lanka, Kenya, England, and Canada, as well as having visited India, France, Netherlands, Seychelles, Portugal, Israel, Egypt, Maldives, and Australia. He enjoyed living his life on his own terms, wanting to live it “his way” until the very end.

Due to the Covid Pandemic all visitations at the funeral home are to be scheduled. Please contact the SIMPLE ALTERNATIVE Funeral Centre at 905-602-1580 to book your session. Please note that the maximum number of people allowed at each visitation session is 23 (including the family).

Uncle John was a quiet man! He was the smiling Dad if my great and playmate Kushi. I know he traveled to England and Kenya and am so happy he traveled to so many far off and exotic places. So happy to read the account. That's such an awesome picture of him too. He looks eminent. remember him more in white outfits though. . Such a quiet and influential man.May he rest in peace and rise in glory! My deepest condolences to Kushi, Sampath and their daughters.
