In memory of

Jack George Mitchell

October 18, 1934 -  April 6, 2021

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Jack (John George) Mitchell, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 6th, 2021. Jack passed just as he wanted, comfortably in the home he shared with Joyce, his loving wife of 20 years. His final days were spent surrounded by his devoted children Scott, Mary (daughter in law) and Lori, as well as seven of his thirteen grandchildren and great grandchildren: Adam, Amanda, Ethan, Connor, Nicole, Graylin, Baylie, Spencer and Kadence. He will be greatly missed by his lifelong friend Bob Wood.

Jack was a proud Scotsman, as were his parents who came to Canada from Edinburgh and Dunfermline. He is predeceased by his first wife, of 41 years, Eleanor and his siblings (Mary, Robert and Ross).

Jack was President for two terms of the Beaver Bible Class that raised funds for a multitude of charities. Both Jack & Joyce participated in the annual Beaver Bible Club musical and were committed to working for Westway United Church. They spent the last 20 years travelling the world together.

Jack taught his family the love of sports, specifically the love of the Leafs and the Blue Jays. With his family gathered around him, he spent his last weeks watching his beloved Jays - a special time that will remain in our hearts forever.

Run the bases up there, Jack. You earned it.

*In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jack can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Westway United Church*

Joyce - may this difficult time draw you even closer to Christ. To lose a friend, a partner in life, a husband can bring unspeakable sorrow. But God can provide comfort and peace of mind. Be comforted knowing that as children of God you will see each other again. To you and to your family, shalom.
