In memory of

John Edward Blumsom

March 10, 1947 -  February 25, 2023

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of John Edward Blumsom on February 25, 2023. John's sense of humour, incredibly caring heart, and supportive spirit will be tremendously missed. John is survived by his beloved partner, Flora, their children, Jeffrey and Ashley (JD), Jennifer and David (Susy), their grandchildren, Olivia, Angelina, Lauren, Darius, Harrison, and Molly, Brother-in-law Jim (Susan) and nephews Alexander and Daniel. John loved playing golf, and did so avidly with Flora; he especially loved rounds with his nephews in the summers. He was extraordinarily passionate about hot rod cars, especially his 1986 Buick Grand National, and he would never let an impressive car drive by without telling you all about it, catching even the smallest details. You could always count on John to know how the Maple Leafs were doing and he welcomed any opportunity to talk about them. In recent years, John was incredibly excited about meeting his newest grandchildren, Harrison and Molly, and loved spending time with them. He enjoyed family gatherings and having everyone together.

Services will take place on March 3rd, 2023 at Elgin Mills Cemetery and Funeral Centre, beginning with a Visitation at 1pm, and a Service and Burial at 2pm with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John's name to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.

How do I say this, and where do I start
Everything hurts, especially my heart
It hurts so much, that I can’t see you anymore
I wish I got to say my goodbyes
Before you walked in God’s door
It makes me feel better
you’re an angel in heaven
You are happy and at peace
And one day I’ll see you again
I miss you and love you deeply
But I know I’ll see you later
So this is not my goodbye.

I met John when I was 16 at a New Year’s party in the Beaches at Lynda’s family home. I remember him as a friendly young man who took the time to talk with me and make me welcome as I didn’t know too many people there. Many years later at a Christmas get together of friends from the east end I met up with John again. He was still the gentle and smiling soul I remembered all those years ago. So sorry to hear of the loss of such a fine man. Sandy(Bickerdike) Alexander.

Over the years, as cousins, we spent many happy times with John, or as we affectionately called him "Johnny." We have so many wonderful memories of sharing in John's great sense of humour, and his sincere and caring ways. He will be missed.
