Joaquim “Jack” Moreira died peacefully on the evening of December 23, 2016 at Toronto Western Hospital. He was 85. Jack was born December 31, 1930 in St. Pedro Da Torre, Portugal into a family of four siblings. Jack immigrated to Canada in 1955 to work on a farm in Newfoundland. He eventually moved west to Elliot Lake and worked in a mine until he could study his trade as a skilled industrial welder. He married Maria Candida in 1968 and together they lived in Toronto until his recent passing. Jack retired early in 1991 and dedicated his time to family and friends.
A dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many, Jack is survived by his wife Maria-Candida; his daughter Nancy; and his three grandchildren.
