It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that the family announces the passing of their dear father, Joao Rebelo Saraiva.

Joao was surrounded by his children when he took his last breath on Monday June 19th, 2023 in Brampton, Ontario.

Joao was born to parents Mariano Rebelo Saraiva and Rosalina Medeiros Pereira on March 10, 1949 in Achada, on the beautiful island of Sao Miguel in Portugal.

He married his beloved wife, Gilda Maria Sousa Saraiva on January 5, 1975. The two were happily married for 36 years and blessed with 3 children and 4 grandchildren.

Joao was well known for his love of soccer, more specifically for his love of Benfica. You could guarantee that if there was a game on, he was watching and if there was a win, he was happily celebrating.

Joao was predeceased by his Wife, Gilda Maria Sousa Saraiva and son Nelson Saraiva.
He is survived by his daughter Cecilia Santos, son-in-law, Danny Santos, son, Paulo Saraiva, daughter in law, Sophia Paulino and grandchildren, Madison Santos, Andrew Santos, Vivienne Saraiva and Josephine Saraiva.
He also leaves behind his siblings, Norberto Saraiva and Maria Correia as well as many nieces and nephews that he held very dear to his heart.

Joao will be forever loved and forever remembered.
