It is with great sadness that we share with family and friends the passing of Joan Sasaki. Loving partner of the late Richard Grant, cherished daughter of the late Fred and Naka Sasaki, loving sister to Paul Sasaki (Karen Sasaki) and loving sister to the late Nana Sasaki (Gerald Diggins). She will be dearly missed by her nieces Crystal Sasaki (Trevor and Ava Hoad), Lori Sasaki and her nephew Derek Sasaki and all who knew and loved her. Joan was a nature lover and ikebana artist who loved the family farm and gardening. Joan was a great supporter of Momiji Health Society and the Japanese Canadian Cultural Center. Donations can be made to Momiji, the J.C.C.C. and the Canadian Cancer Society. Friends may call at PINE HILLS CEMETERY & FUNERAL CENTRE, 625 Birchmount Rd., Scarborough (north of St. Clair Ave. E., 416-267-8229) on Thursday January 27th, 2022 from 1-2pm Funeral Service at 2pm. Hard to believe that my brother passed a couple of weeks earlier. Both so young. Very sad

We are saddened that Joan has passed away too early in life.

While I didn’t know her so well in the later years, it is with much fondness I recall her warmth and joy whenever I visited Toronto when we were young. Her knowledge of and dedication to the Toronto Maple Leafs was amazing to me.

I cannot put into words why it is so, but she is an inspiration for loving life regardless of what it brings.
