In memory of

Joan Mardel Cross

August 18, 1931 - January 23, 2023

Joan Mardel Cross (Mason) - passed suddenly at the age of 91, on January, 23, 2023. Joan lived a long and full life that included raising three children, traveling, golf and other active pursuits and her family remembers fondly her love of family times at the cottage. Always trying to keep her mind active, Joan was an avid reader, and enjoyed puzzles and card games and was a well loved member of many social card groups over the years.

A no-nonsense, strong woman who always did what she believed was right, no matter how difficult, and generous to those in need. Since the loss of her husband of 67 years in 2021 she had been the cornerstone of the family and her passing leaves a great void that can only be filled with the lifetime of memories she has left behind. She is survived by her children Susan (Brian) and Doug (Anne Marie), grandchildren Trisha (Andrew), Kristi, Laura (Stefan) and Erin, great-granddaughter Abigail and her beloved grand-dogs Sprocket and Zoe. She is pre-deceased by her husband Vernon and eldest son, Steven.

A private ceremony will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to local food banks as homelessness and poverty were something she cared about deeply.
