In memory of

Joan MacPherson

March 30, 1931 -  August 10, 2021

It is with great sadness we announce that our beautiful mother Joan MacPherson (née Carty) passed away peacefully on August 10, 2021. Predeceased by her husband James Ley MacPherson who loved and adored her every minute he was with her. She was a loving mother of Joanne (and husband Chris) and Chris (and wife Tracey) and a devoted “Nana” to Allyson and Bennett.

She will be sadly missed by her sister Monica of Toronto and her brothers and sisters in Ireland (Willie, Kitty, Robert and Grace), her nieces and nephews (too many to mention), and all of the many friends she had made during her lifetime. She will be greeted in heaven by her mom and dad, her loving husband, her brothers and sisters and the many friends she has lost throughout her life.

She was a devoted Catholic who relied on the comfort of prayer to give her peace and hope. She prayed for everyone no matter their circumstances. She was also a talented seamstress, quilter, and knitter who always took pride in her work and took the time to teach family and friends these crafts.

One of her greatest joys was talking on the telephone to all of her brothers and sisters oftentimes lasting hours. She also loved meeting with her family – kissing and holding all the new babies. She had a great sense of humour and a love for all sweet treats.

To know Joan is to love her and to have been loved by her was the greatest gift of all!

In memory of Joan and in lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated by the family.

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Aunt Joan . My father Robert has told me many fond stories of Joan looking after him when they were growing up on Joyce Rd in Dublin. My deepest sympathies to you and your family and you will all be in my thoughts.

A great lady and one whom I am grateful for her generosity and kindness.
A woman with a quick wit and a story.

I will think of her fondly.
