December 26, 1939 -
January 16, 2024
Mark Jin-Jy Huang passed away peacefully into God's embrace on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at the age of 84. He was a loving husband to Nai Chong Gan, father of Angeline, Alex and John, grandfather of Anna, Madeleine, Juliet, Audrey, Brooke, Katherine, Gabriel, Mikel and Maria. Mark was born in the Guangdong region of China in 1939, the 2nd of 5 brothers. War and conflict forced his family to flee China and make some heartbreaking sacrifices along the way. They spent 2 years in a refugee camp in Vietnam before finding a home in Taiwan. There, he continued his schooling, worked hard and attended the National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1961.
His career with companies like Sharp and Toshiba took him around Southeast Asia, with stops in Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia. Malaysia is where he would meet his wife, Nai Chong, get baptized and married in 1972. In search of better opportunities for their children, Mark and Nai Chong emigrated to Canada in 1987, where they settled in Mississauga, Ontario and became dedicated members of the Mississauga Chinese Baptist Church for nearly 35 years. Mark was a devoted father and humble servant of God. In Canada, he dedicated his energy to raising his family and enjoyed playing bridge, gardening and practicing tai chi.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 10:00am at the Meadowvale Funeral Centre (7732 Mavis Rd, Brampton, ON, L6Y 5L5). Burial and reception will follow.
