In memory of

Jessie Sandra Baker

January 12, 1939 -  April 26, 2017

BAKER, Jessie
January 12, 1939 – April 26, 2017 passed away peacefully with her closest family at her side at Sunnybrook after a courageous battle with cancer. After falling in love with her husband Ted Baker, they enjoyed a happy marriage for 58 years with loving son Teddy (Celine) and daughter Sandy (John). She loved her grandchildren, Wyatt, Wellesley, Danielle and Jake by helping to shape the wonderful people they are today. By happenstance in mid-life she learned she had been adopted after birth and had 5 sisters, Pat, Joyce, Isabel, Betty and Jean and 1 brother Jim. She loved all her new family and created a special bond with her sisters Pat and Joyce. Growing up in Richmond Hill there were so many family members that always had a special place for little Jessie who was proud to be a tall 4’ 11 ¾”. Family, friends, coworkers, neighbors and chorus members have all enjoyed and benefited by Jessie’s warm welcoming and infectious smile. Jessie will be deeply missed by us all. For those that enjoyed one of her famous meals we all know her love of cooking and sharing and celebrating life together. Sunday roast was the highlight of the week for everyone. Singing in the Sweet Adeline’s later in life became her passion with the new joy singing in a choir. She helped build the family printing business from Edsan Press to EPI Graphics for more than 30 years. She would want us all to be strong and stay close as a family. Share together, laugh together and celebrate together in her honor and in her heart. Special thanks to Larry and Linda Freeman for everything that we have gone through together. The family will be accepting visitors at the YORK CEMETERY & FUNERAL CENTRE (160 Beecroft Rd., Toronto) Wednesday, May 3rd from 9-10am with A Celebration of Life to take place at 10am. In memory of Jessie, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

John and Lynne O'Leary (Loving Friends)

Entered April 29, 2017 from Innisfil, Ontario

Ted, Teddy, Sandy and family, John and I send our love and deepest condolences. Jessie was a shining light in our lives. Her smile and energy more than lit up a room. Her open arms welcomed everyone and made us all feel special. We very seldom heard a negative word from our friend or found an obstacle she couldn't conquer. We will miss the dinners and visits to the cottage but mostly that amazing smile and giggle.
Sending love and light to you all.
Love Lynne and John

Arlene Welch (Scarborough Chorus sister)

Jessie was the first person I talked to when enquiring about joining the Scarborough Chorus four years ago. Little did I know that I would end up singing bass with her and our relationship would develop into a friendship. I have never met a lady with such a joy of life, love and pride of her family, and positive attitude despite the numerous blows that cancer gave her. I will forever remember her smile that lit up her face and her beautiful voice.
My condolences to Ted, Sandy, Pat and the rest of the family. There will be tough times but lean on each other and draw strength from Jessie's positive energy.
May God hold you in the palm of his hand beautiful lady.

Jessie's lovely and bright smiles was one of the most noticeable Scarborough Chorus hallmarks whenever & wherever you met her, either at our weekly rehearsals or performance events. The reason is her smile lit up the whole hall and lifted up our individual spirits even while she was still fighting courageously and strongly in the multiple times of long-hauled wars against cancer.
Her smiles and encouraging words to life will always remain deeply in my heart.
She will be greatly missed by each individual of us. Scarborough Chorus will miss her greatly for her joy in singing and her ceaseless contribution to the chorus. She set a great role model for the members joining after her, including me, to learn how to love passionately and commit with dedication in the avocation I have chosen to invest my time & effort in to develop.
Thanks Jessie for teaching us some much precious life lessons.
Trust that you're enjoying a peaceful, painless, joyful, tear-less life in Heaven NOW.
