In memory of

Jerry Kenneth Longstaff

May 18, 1964 -  March 11, 2024

LONGSTAFF, Jerry Kenneth “Robert”– Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 11, 2024, just shy of his 60th birthday. Beloved son of the Late Godfrey and Roberta Longstaff. Loving brother to Debbie (Tony) and the late Barbara. Uncle to Stephanie, Brandon, Danielle, Dawn and Westley. Great-Uncle to Jax, Bailey, Madison, Ava, Charlotte and Noah. He will be dearly missed by his extended family and friends. Visitors are welcome to the Meadowvale Funeral Centre located at 7732 Mavis Road in Brampton. (Mavis road just north of the 407).
A Celebration of life will be held from 1-3pm with a reception to follow.
Any donations can be made to the Down Syndrome Association of Ontario or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

A meeting was held quite far from earth.
“It’s time again for another birth,”
Said the Angels to the Lord above,
“This special child will need much love.
His progress may seem very slow,
And he’ll require extra care
From the folks he meets way down there.
He may not run or laugh or play
His thoughts may seem quite far away,
In many ways he won’t adapt,
And he’ll be known as handicapped.
So let’s be careful where he’s sent
We want his life to be content.
Please, Lord, find the parents who
Will do a special job for you.
They will not realize right away
The leading role they’re asked to play,
But with this child sent from above
Comes stronger faith and richer love.
And soon they’ll know the privilege given
In caring for this gift from Heaven,
Their precious charge, so meek and mild
Is Heaven’s very special child!”

Robert, this has been one of the hardest things I have had to do. To say goodbye! No more sickness just freedom. Say hi to mom and dad. I will miss you so much. I love you Robert!❤️

He was a dear soul. Creative in his own way. He will be missed deeply. To Debbie and Tony who took him in and gave him a home and so much kindness, love and happiness. At times we know, it must have been challenging. My heart goes out to all of you.

Such a special person and fun to be around. Have so many good memories. I would hope a special person like Gerald will go straight to heaven. So pleasant to be around and wanting to give a special hand.
