In memory of

Jerald (Jerry) Donald Ginsberg

January 3, 1943 -  January 15, 2022

It is with profound sadness that the family of Jerry Ginsberg announces his sudden passing on January 15, 2022, at the age of 79.

He will be lovingly remembered forever by his wife and best friend for 57 years, Judith (Judy), his son Morgan, his partner Tascha, his daughter Dana, son-in-law, Tony, his sister Ruthie, his extended family members, as well as his many dear friends.

Jerry was a bright spark in this world and touched the lives of many individuals. He was kind and caring and always had a wonderful wry sense of humour.

His passion as an artist was evident in both his profession as an Advertising Artist in such places as Vickers and Benson — where he, along with the firm, was recognized with an award for art direction, as well as his talent as a Fine Artist where he painted in egg tempura, watercolours, and oils.

Jerry loved the Berkshire area of Massachusetts where he and Judy maintained a summer home since the 1960's. Jerry and Judy spent many summers in the Berkshires attending many wonderful concerts and theatre venues and had many close friends. It was there that Jerry first introduced his daughter Dana to ballet at Jacob’s Pillow, which is nestled in the trees of Becket MA. Dana and Jerry were hooked from then on with a never-ending passion for ballet.

Jerry also showcased his paintings of the beautiful Berkshires in a gallery in Great Barrington, MA and in Toronto.

A private funeral has already taken place. In the future, his family will be holding a Celebration of Jerry's Life.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to Ballet Jörgen, Canada's Local Dance Co., a charitable organization and one of Jerry's favorites, in keeping with his passion for living as an artist and bringing the Arts to everyone everywhere.

In honour and memory of Jerry, donations can be made by clicking "Make a Donation" below.

Jerry was a throwback to the 60’s (“Who loves ya, baby?); a diehard Yankees, Sinatra and Hitchcock fan; a generous, sharp and sweet man; real character and a wonderful friend for nearly 40 years. I’ll miss his old school mailed cards with copies of articles, our weekly chats while I was on my walks and the inimitable charm that was Jerry. I love ya, baby and won’t ever forget ya.

Jerry has been in my life since he met Judy. He will be lovingly remembered for his wry humour and his artistic sensibilities, but most importantly, for his devotion to Judy and his family. Rest In peace dear Jerry.
