In memory of

Jenny Petron (nee Ivanoff)

December 25, 1927 -  July 17, 2025

Passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa after a short illness. Jenny was the beloved wife of the late Boris Petron, who she shared over 60 years of marriage with before his passing in 2019. She was a loving mother to Kathy (Don), Elaine (William), and William (Nubia). She was a wonderful grandmother to Steven, Jennifer, Robert, Alex, Lara, Virginia, William, and Nicole and a proud great-grandmother to Jessica, Liam, and Addison. Jenny was pre-deceased by her elder brother, Alek, and will be dearly missed by her cherished younger sister, Dianne.

Jenny was raised in Kirkland Lake and bravely adventured far from home to complete her nursing studies in Stamford, Connecticut, where she graduated with the class of 1951. She met her future husband, Boris, when they were children in Kirkland Lake, and they reconnected as adults, fell in love, married, and settled in Oshawa in 1955. Jenny travelled all over the world and forged close relationships at home with friends, family, and neighbours. She took pride in always being active and engaged in life. She amazed us by continuing to play her favourite sport, golf, until the age of 92, becoming an avid reader in her mid-90s, and expertly tending to her garden and house even in the last weeks of her life. She was keenly interested in the wellbeing of her loved ones and memorably showed this love through her legendary blueberry pies and muffins. As the matriarch of our family, Jenny always inspired us to be our best, leading by example with her generosity, tenacity, hard work, and boundless love.

In accordance with Jenny’s wishes, there will be no funeral or public celebration of life. Her loved ones will privately honour her and her life well-lived. If you wish to honour her memory, we feel that she would be pleased if donations were made in her name to UNICEF- Ukraine or to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

I was told that Jenny was 1 of the 1st to see me when I was born @ Oshawa Hospital as her own daughter Kathy was born exactly 1 week earlier and newborns & their mothers were kept in-hospital for 7 days or more.....there were photos of newborn Kathy & me swaddled side-by-side on a hospital bed w/ the new mothers looking on proudly. I remember Jenny as super-capable and intelligent, always helpful & always the 'nurse', curious, loyal, independent, a really special Mom and avid in sports such as curling and golf. Her laugh was distinct and contagious. When my own parents were declining and Boris had gone, she still came to check on them and cared deeply. Jenny you were 'one of a kind' and I will never forget you.
