In memory of

Jean Margaret Wilmot Boulby

July 24, 1931 -  February 8, 2018

Jean Margaret Wilmot Boulby, née Saxby
July 24, 1931-February 8, 2018

Beloved wife of the late Mark Boulby, mother of Marion, Sarah (and Perry), grandmother to Thomas, sister of Gillian (and Keith), aunt to Anna, Helen and Neil, great aunt to Ella, Tia, Siara and Inigo, and sister of Eunice (and family).

Jean was educated at the Maynard School in Exeter and studied for a year at St. Hilda’s College, Oxford. Jean left Oxford (after an adventure) and joined the Royal Air Force. She served as an officer in the RAF until her marriage to Mark. Jean then worked for the Inland Revenue until Marion was born. Jean emigrated with her family to the United States where she lived in New York and Ohio. She emigrated again with the family to Canada, initially living in Vancouver. Jean studied history at the University of British Columbia and obtained a B.A.. Her M.A. thesis on fish markets must remain a work in progress. Jean worked in credit at a department store in Vancouver and later in a diamond business in Toronto.

Jean was always young at heart. She had a wide circle of friends. She made art and great food. She was the centre of our family and we shall miss her.

Visitation at the Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre- 375 Mount Pleasant Road on Tuesday, February 13 at 2pm with service in our Chapel at 3 pm. Cremation.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Doctors Without Borders or the Temmy Latner Centre

Dear Boulby family,

I will never forget your mother/ grandmother/ mother in law.
She was a person who knew how to enjoy, a solid, caring person.
A role model and beloved by many, no doubt.
I am thinking of you in your sorrow.

Jean approached everything with enthusiasm.
She made friends of the opposition, all the while maintaining her own style and always with grace, good humour and dignity.
I will miss her but always remember her fondly.

My friendship with Jean began when I was blessed to enjoy Jean's company at many creative workshops. We even had a vacation together for one week, attending the Haliburton School of the Arts taking Marion Spanjerdt's workshop, and staying at my cottage. Jean was always delightful, intelligent, willing to be adventurous and experimental. In other words, a great person to have fun with.
My sincere condolences to her much beloved family.

With very fond memories,
Shoshana
