Gertrude “Jean” MacDonald (née Timleck)

January 8, 1928 -  May 27, 2023

Passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Saturday, May 27 surrounded by family at Pleasant Meadow Manor in Norwood, ON.

She is predeceased by her husband James MacDonald, her son Gene MacDonald (Cimarron) and her grandson, David Harrison.

Jean was born on January 8, 1928 to James and Mary Timleck (née Topping) in Toronto. She married the love of her life James MacDonald in 1948. After living in Toronto for many years, Jean and James moved to Bobcaygeon. Following her husband's passing, Jean spent the latter years of her life living in Peterborough and enjoyed spending her summers with family at her trailer in Keene.

Jean's family will remember her fondly for her amazing sense of humour, loving nature, strength of character and the many stories shared and memories made over the years.

Jean was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion and often helped with local charities and in the community. She was known and loved by many at the Westmont Bible Chapel and in the Auburn Village Community, where she lived for over a decade. She loved to play darts, euchre, bowling and shuffleboard and won many tournaments and trophies over the years.

The funeral is scheduled for Friday, June 2 at Pine Hills Cemetry in Scarborough. Visiting hours will be at 1pm with the funeral at 2pm and a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jean’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Hospital for Sick Children (Sick Kids) in Toronto. The family would like to thank the nurses at Peterborough Regional Health Centre and Pleasant Meadow Manor for their care.

She was always unique, being the only daughter with five brothers.

It was always an adventure whenever our families would get together.

Rest in peace.
