In memory of

Jean Lorraine Jenkins

June 8, 1930 -  April 22, 2022

It is with great sadness that the family of Jean Lorraine Jenkins announces her passing on Friday, April 22, 2022. Born June 8, 1930 in Bay Roberts, Newfoundland to Mildred and Hayward Mercer. 1 of 10 children, survived by Marjorie, Shirley and Sylvia. Married to Don Jenkins (deceased) and then longtime partner Jim Wilson (deceased). Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her. She will be missed by her children Danny (Linda), Betty (Tom) and Donna (Al) and by her grandchildren Lynne (Martin), Wayne, Wesley (Nicole), Jamie (Georgia), Taunya (Taylor), Michael (Marcy), Ian (Beth) and great grandchildren Damian, Daxton, Jade, Tristan, Aidan and Tatiana. Our beautiful mother loved knitting, bingo, gardening, card games, fishing, her trailer days, family reunions, music, a good Newfie jig and fry ups. Longtime employee of Crown, Cork and Seal.

Special thanks to Ajax Hospital ER and Dr. Pedretti for their care and compassion. Thanks also to the staff of Chartwell Pickering City Centre for their friendship and care of mom, she made many friends there that helped extend her life experiences. Many thanks to all family and friends who have expressed their heartfelt condolences to us during this time of grief.

Mom’s ashes will be laid to rest with Dad’s in a private family ceremony. A celebration of life has been arranged at The Simple Alternative Funeral Centre – Pickering on June 11th from noon to 2pm to allow family and friends to gather and share precious memories. See details below. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Jean is my brothers mother-in-law. We celebrated her birthday the same day as our dad's June 8th and also every Christmas Eve. She was a wonderful person, very caring, always smiling. Jean and her husband Don had parties with my parents and their friends to break up the winter months. Jean had a fulfilling life going camping and to her trailer, then spent a few months in Florida for several years. She will be missed by many.

Remembering all the fun and singing and fishing we had. She will remain in my thoughts and heart. May the winds fill her sail wherever she goes. God bless

Jean was a wonderful lady. Never was in her company that she was not smiling and happy to be with family and friends.
