In memory of

Jean Lai Hung Wong

April 13, 1961 -  September 1, 2020

Our beautiful Jean succumbed after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer at the age of 59. Daughter of Kenneth Kwok Leung Wong (predeceased) and Ting Chu Chun Wong and beloved sister to Gordon (Sandra), Rene, Peter (Debbie) and Bing (predeceased). Adored aunt to Chase, Melanie, Steele, Samantha and Marissa. She was loved and cherished by her many great friends.

Jean was so gifted in many ways as an athlete, an artist and a scholar. She packed a full life. Jean earned her Master of Science in Athletic Training at Indiana State University and Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education from York University.

Jean loved sports, and enjoyed working in many sports injury clinics as an Athletic Therapist. She also loved scuba diving, and pursued her qualifications as a Dive Master and Dive Instructor in Thailand. On her return from this adventure, and with a passion for helping people, Jean became a Registered Massage Therapist after graduating from the Sutherland-Chan school. She spent the past decade working at Adelaide West Physiotherapy Clinic. In her work, Jean was kind and gentle and well beloved by her patients and colleagues.

Jean loved travelling, having travelled the world several times, and especially meeting people to capture the essence of the area. She loved to sit and absorb the atmosphere, and compose beautifully framed pictures. She was a quiet person, but definitely could state her way of thinking when she needed to go against the grain. She was wonderfully organized and had a lot to teach about planning and preparation.

A special appreciation from the family goes to Michael, Carla, Karen, Claudia and Wendy who helped Jean navigate through this journey. And the comfort and joy brought to her by “the boys” Matt and Jack.

The family would like to thank Dr. Raymond Jang, Dr. Ahmed al-Awamer, social worker Joanne Siu and the team at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre; Dr. Jeff Myers, nurse Danielle Lapointe and the team at Bridgepoint Active Healthcare as well as many other health professionals who helped Jean in her journey.

Jean asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, Wellspring Downtown Toronto, Toronto Cat Rescue or Bridgepoint Foundation.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Jean. She had such a gentle and kind spirit, and it was always a pleasure to work alongside her. We all miss her terribly at Adelaide West Physiotherapy, and I miss going to watch Raptors and Jays games with her and talking sports and stocks. My sincerest condolences to her family.

My deepest condolences to the entire Wong family for the painful loss of such a unique human being. It hurts me deeply to know that Jean will never be with us again; but it will always be in our hearts and thoughts. I am lucky to have known her for more than 15 years Working together in different Hotel Spas; she was a person dedicated to her family, friends and her profession, I admired her professionalism, intelligence and her personality ; free spirit. I thank God for giving me the opportunity to have her as my friend; She always showed me confidence with whom I could count on good and sincere advice.
