It is with sadness that the Kaplan family announces the passing of Jean Kaplan, on Sunday, December 23, 2018. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends from Val d'Or, Kirkland Lake and Toronto.

Beloved wife of Jerry Kaplan, deceased in 2003, and loving mother to daughters Sonia Kaplan, and Cynthia Kaplan and her husband David Fraser, and to her son, Sim Kaplan and his wife Dianna.

Jean will be remembered by many for her passion for curling and figure skating. She was committed to her involvement in community service which included her work as President of the Val d'Or Ladies' Auxiliary of the Canadian Legion. Jean had a long and rewarding career with friends and colleagues in the stock brokerage firm of Doherty Roadhouse (Kirkland Lake), later Midland Doherty/Midland Walwyn (Toronto).

In honouring her wishes, a private family service has been held. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Summer of 2019 in Kirkland Lake, Ontario. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Nature Conservancy of Canada.
