It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Janusz “John” Poreba on June 2nd, 2023. Janusz leaves behind his beloved wife Iwona, his daughters Monika and Magda, his son-in-law Oskar, his granddaughters Julia and Alexa, and his siblings Piotr and Renata.

Born on December 10th, 1951 in Poland, Janusz thrived on getting the most out of life, pursuing continuous learning and organizing outdoor adventures. After immigrating with his young family to Canada, he continued to seize all opportunities, be it in business or sailing the Great Lakes and the Caribbean. Always striving to achieve more, Janusz started a transport company in 1997. He continued to grow and operate the company for 23 years, welcoming many into the Ursus Transport family.

Janusz courageously battled ALS for 5 years and envisioned a world where this disease can finally be cured. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ALS Society of Canada or ALS Action Canada. Janusz will be greatly missed and he will forever live on in our hearts.

A visitation will be held at The Simple Alternative Funeral Centre – Mississauga on Monday June 12th, 2023 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. A second visitation will take place on Tuesday June 13th from 12:00pm-1:00pm, followed by a ceremony at the funeral centre chapel at 1:00pm.
