In memory of

Janna Willemina Koolman

September 9, 1929 -  April 13, 2023

Janna Willemina Koolman (nee Van Drunen) passed away peacefully on April 13, 2023. The loving wife of Jacob for over 69 years. Beloved mother of Marja (Geoffery), Jan (Glynis) and Brian (Tawny). Proud grandmother of Christopher (Lisa), Justin (Amanda), Adriana (George), Luke (Sarah) and Lillian. Great grandmother to Zachary, Joshua and Claire.
Janna was born into a large family, September 9, 1929 in Lisse, the Netherlands. A strong and independent woman, she was creative, resourceful and full of life. Married to Jacob in 1953, the couple started a successful upholstery business together, while raising a family. They emigrated in 1962, continuing to build a wonderful life for themselves and their children in Canada. Proud of her Dutch heritage, she contributed to many community events, and never missed making oliebollen for New Years. Janna was a drapery seamstress for many years, but was most fulfilled when she took on the role of a teachers assistant in later life. She loved to sew, knit and was particularly adept at needlepoint, creating many cherished pieces. An avid gardener, an enthusiastic traveller and a voracious reader, Janna was always a bundle of energy. In their later years, Janna and Jacob enjoyed their lives at the HCH community, cherishing their many friendships. Janna’s greatest love was always her family, to which she was completely devoted. She will be very truly missed.
As we all know, Janna loved flowers, we kindly hope that you will contribute to her sendoff with a small floral remembrance.
