Surrounded by her loving family, Janice died peacefully on January 23, 2025, at Sunnybrook Palliative Care Unit at the age of 66.

Janice will be lovingly remembered by her sisters, brothers and in-laws Kathy & Keith Coskey, Lori James, Joan & Doug Laing, Allen & Loreli James, Chris James & Jo-Anne Lansard, and Jon James & Walter Sergejew. Janice was a wonderful aunt to her nephews and nieces Shannon, Meaghan, Ryan, Holly, Lauren, Shaun, Tiffany, Trevor, Matthew, Nicholas, Daniel and Alexie and a great aunt to Logan, Carter, Lochland and Scarlett. Janice was the second oldest in a family of seven, consisting of three sisters and three younger brothers. Janice enjoyed her career in financial services, working with Loewen, Ondaatje, McCutcheon, for a number of years before joining her husband Jeffrey in his Insurance business, The Dawson Group. Janice leaves behind family from her husband Jeffrey Dawson, which includes John Dawson & Yvonne Lynch, Angela Dewit & Fernand LeBlanc, Paula, Sarina, Jordan Sarraf, Erik, Robin & Ava Dewit. Jeffrey Alan Dawson passed away on July 5th, 2020, and was cremated soon thereafter where his ashes remained with Janice at their house.

Funeral services for both Janice and Jeffrey will be held on Saturday, February 8th at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre, 375 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto, Ontario. Visitation will be between 1 - 2 pm with services following in the Mount Pleasant Gathering Hall. The family is planning to hold a Celebration of Life in the Spring as weather improves.
