In memory of

Janet Mavis Wheeldon

May 28, 1938 -  May 18, 2022

It is with much sadness and mixed emotions we said goodbye to our beloved Janet on Wednesday May 18, 2022. Following a final visit from her husband, Robert Ludgate, Janet left us, ten days shy of her 84th birthday.
We remember Janet as a proud, intelligent, and independent woman. Janet was also about family. Janet was a wonderful woman and touched so many lives.
Janet leaves a wall of memories and an extended family that love her very much, on both sides of the pond. Beginning with her Birmingham UK roots, her late mother Annie Lilian Sorensen and father Thomas F. Smith, Janet is survived by her siblings and their families. Her sister Kay (Husband Kress) and brother Paul (Wife Linden).
Janet was also a thoughtful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her beloved son Carl, sadly and suddenly, passed away two days before her. Memories are cherished by Carl’s wife Angela and their three children, Anthony, Robert, and Natalie.
Janet was predeceased by her first husband, David Wheeldon, with his passing in 2020.
Janet married her second husband, Robert Ludgate, in 1992. Robert was a caring and devoted man to her. His daughters Kimberley, (Husband Brian) and Denise, along with the grandchildren Nicholas, Derek, Brandon (Wife Stephanie), Zachary and her only great-grandchild, Hemingway, miss her very much.
For those of you who had the opportunity to meet Jan, you would never forget her. Her zany sarcasm & witty British humour always left you in stitches. Jan had a heart of gold and served up the laughs at every family event. Janet was also the strong matriarch you could always turn to for advice or help. Sadly, the dreadful Alzheimer’s disease overtook this beautiful, kind soul.
A celebration of Janet’s life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers and in Janet’s memory, donations can be made to Alzheimer Society of Canada.
