In memory of

Janet Gasparotto

December 21, 1954 -  May 15, 2020

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Janet Gasparotto on May 15, 2020. Janet passed peacefully in her home with her loved ones by her side. She is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her children, Layla and Adam Hall, and by her partner, John Bingham.

Janet lived a life based on her values of compassion, kindness, and love. She was creative, thoughtful, playful, and passionate. Janet saw beauty in life’s dichotomies—the coexistence of light and dark, of success and failure, of joy and sorrow. Finding strength within herself, and through her faith, she worked to overcome life’s obstacles and appreciate all that life had to offer.

Janet built an esteemed career as an interior designer, while also pursuing her passion for arts. We will cherish our memories of Janet enjoying the things she loved, including spending time in nature, taking in an art exhibit, having new adventures through travel, eating a delicious meal with friends, and simply enjoying time with her family. Janet so deeply loved her friends and family; we have been profoundly touched by the outpouring of love and support throughout the progression of her cancer. We wish to extend a special thanks to all the amazing people who supported Janet’s wellbeing and who eased her suffering over the final months of her life.

In memory of Janet and in lieu of flowers, donations to the Church of the Redeemer Common Table Program or to the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care would be welcomed.

Dostoevsky said; "Beauty will save the world", and beauty (love, grace, forgiveness, kindness, mercy, and grace) Janet was, and is, as her spirit goes with us and lives on in us and we are indeed "saved" by her beauty. We are deeper and richer because of her. Brokenhearted but inspired to try and live what she lived. with love. Keith and Jennifer.

I am so deeply sorry that we have lost such a wonderful, caring and passionate person as Janet. She had a wickedly fun and funny side to her. She found the bright side of situations. I am going to miss our too infrequent lunches where we shared what was going on in with our families, work and our other loves. I will especially miss our long hugs at the beginning and end of every time we met!

Janet was more than a friend or a neighbour. Over the years, Janet and I became sisters. We shared happy times and supported each other through difficult times. We loved all our children and cherished the deep friendships they have developed and still maintain since childhood.
Her spirit and joyful love will live in our hearts and soften our sadness at her loss.

Janet and I ran into each other last year and had a lovely long catch up after not seeing each other for a few years. I was always amazed by her talent and her passion for whatever she was doing. She hadn't changed one bit - she was happy, bubbly and genuine Janet.

We'll miss you so much, Janet...you made a difference in a lot of people's lives. K
