In memory of

Jan Sapak

March 28, 1950 -  July 6, 2023

On July 6, 2023, Ing. Jan Sapak ,73 of Etobicoke Ontario passed away after a short and sudden illness with his beloved wife of fifty years at his side.

Born in the former Czechoslovakia on March 28 1950, Jan and his family fled the communist regime and emigrated to Canada in hope of a better life in 1987. Always an excellent student, Jan studied engineering at the Comenius University of Bratislava finishing with a country wide, top prize winning thesis. Jan continued studying and working hard to succeed in the field of Telecomunications in Canada. The years in a new land were not easy, but through his great determination and tireless tenacity our family endured and succeeded in making the New World our home. In his later years he successfully transitioned to work on his own business enterprises.

Jan is survived by his wife Maria, his two sons Peter and Jan, his daughters in law Agatha and Jennifer and his beloved five grandchildren Oliver, Bridget, Henry, Nicholas and Sofia and his furry best friend Bear.

A lifelong sportsman and avid skier, he skied until the very end and had next years season ticket already purchased. Jan was a lifelong history student and voracious reader. He loved to travel the world with Maria to numerous ski and other destinations whenever they were able. His love of learning, life, sport and skiing is continued by his children and grandchildren.

Jan had great spirit for life, a real people person who made countless friends along the way.

In his latter years he battled numerous serious health challenges which he overcame with his indomitable spirit until the very end.

As his neighbor said of hearing of his passing…”man, he will really be missed!
