In memory of

Jan Michalec

December 23, 1964 -  September 18, 2025

Jan Michalec, The son of Maria and Jozef Michalec, passed away the early morning of September, 18th, 2025 surrounded by his family.

Jan was born in Poland during the holiday season in December 1964. Loving sibling to 3 sisters and a brother, born and raised in the small village outside of Jeleśnia, Poland. A man who has lived so many lives, dedicated to helping so many people. Living his late teenage years and early adulthood saving lives as a key member of a ski patrol unit, transitioning into becoming a honoured firefighter, Jan has devoted his life to the protection and safety of people. He graduated university and helped provide for his family during this time.

With only $30 in his pocket, in 1989, Jan courageously moved to Canada. No language and very little resources, Jan built an unbelievable life for himself and his family. His first job(s) being in construction, slowly making the transition into a full-time truck driver that allowed him to see everything North America had to offer.
On the back of this experience Jan established a reputation as one of the most versatile and well known logistic operation personals in the Greater Toronto Area and beyond. In this line of work, he’s built relationships and friendships that he carried with him his whole life. To this day, that $30 was never spent and continues to serve as a symbol that hard work and love will overcome any obstacle.

Jan married his soulmate Malgorzata on the 28th of April 1990. Growing together in Canada, they welcomed and raised 2 sons, Maciej and Jakub Michalec, whom loved their father. Not just for his sacrifices, but because of the man he was, the honesty he showed on a daily basis, his strength and his tireless work ethic that he took with him until his final moments without ever losing face. A pillar in this family that can never be replaced.

Family and Friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life. A viewing will take place the night before his funeral at Meadowvale Cemetery, Cremation & Funeral Centres, 7732 Mavis Road, Brampton, ON, CANADA, L6Y 5L5, on Thursday, 25 Sep 2025 at 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
His funeral mass will be at St. Eugene de Mazenod Parish, 1252 Steeles Avenue West, Brampton, ON, CANADA, L6Y 0A9, on
Friday, 26 Sep 2025 at 10:00 AM.

Jan was a great man and very kind hearted, the few times I met him. I could see how much he enjoyed skiing during the times Jakub and I had gone with him. He will be remember with warm thoughts and memories.
