In memory of

James Vincent Bigford

March 14, 1937 -  April 30, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Vincent Bigford on April 30, 2023 at the age of 86 in Toronto, Ontario. Vince was born March 14, 1937 in Smiths Falls, Ontario to James and Myrtle Louise Bigford (nee McIlvenna). He grew up alongside his sister Joan Wood and had wonderful memories and stories of growing up in a small town with many Aunts, Uncles and cousins.

Vince began his career at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and then left his home town of Smiths Falls for an opportunity to work in Toronto. He left Toronto to work in a branch in Kingston, Jamaica where he met his future wife Sybil Doreen Henry, with whom he moved back to Toronto. He eventually even made it into the newspaper - by singlehandedly stopping a bank robber! He claimed he was no hero but simply that he was "Just a lover, not a fighter".

Vince is survived by daughters Kelly-Ann, Karen and Kimberly, and his beloved grandchildren Matthew and Saskia - whom he loved to spoil more than anything.

Vince will be remembered for being incredibly kind, supportive and generous. He always made sure his family had everything they wanted and more. If you needed help, Vince was the kind of dad and friend who moved heaven and earth to help. He will also be remembered for his love of music (Dr. Hook!), food and his wry sense of humour which resulted in too many bad dad jokes.

Vince will be honoured in a small private ceremony attended by immediate family and will be interred at Hillcrest Cemetery in Smith’s Falls.
