Shiga, James (Jim) Tsutomu
January 13, 1934-April 7, 2024

Jim passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on April 7, 2024 at the age of 90. Loving husband of Akiko (Katsumi) for 59 years. Proud father of Rodney (Florie), Randy (Janice), and Ronald (Phieng). Cherished grandfather to Kassandra, Patrisha, Kailey, Brennan and Maya. Son of the late Mitsuzo and Shizuko. Brother of the late Tak, Terry (Amy), and Michi Shiomi. Brother in law of the late Sayoko Hichiri (Otsuro), Ken Katsumi (Eiko), George Katsumi (Kotoyo), Kayoko Tanaka (Tom), Shoji Katsumi (Nancy). He is survived by his sister June Nakatsu (Tak), sister in law Amy Shiga, brother in law Mike Shiomi, sister in law’s Lily Yamamoto (Tom), and Atsuko Mattern (Yutaka). He will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Thank you to Dr. Rachel Wortzman and Dr. Marica Varga for the wonderful care provided at home. Thank you also to the wonderful team of PSW’s who took care of Jim at home for many years. Your care and compassion was greatly appreciated by the family.
Family and close friends will be received at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre (375 Mount Pleasant Rd., Toronto) on Sunday April 14, 2024. Visitation will be between 10:00-11:00 am and the memorial service will begin at 11:00 am. Family and close friends are invited to a reception immediately following the service from 12:00-2:00 p.m.
