James Ngar Hung Young passed away peacefully on September 27, 2024. James, or Jimmy to all who knew him was born May 16, 1923, in Xinhui, Guangdong, China.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, and his children - Gerry (Gordon), Ron (Kathleen), Donald, Denise (David); grandchildren Andrea, Melissa (Nikolas), Ian (Kimmy), Daniel (Bianca), Ryan (Andrea), Matthew (Judy), Meagan; and great grandchildren Emma and Evan. He was predeceased by his eldest infant son who passed away in China.
He will also be greatly missed by his brothers and their spouses, sister and sisters-in-law: Bob (Joyce), Clancy (Valerie), George, Lloyd, Dorothy, Florence, Betty and Pat. Predeceased by his parents, Charles and Zhang, and stepmother Eileen, siblings Arthur, Earle, Bill, Sonny, Margaret and brother/sisters-in-law Richard, Annie, Terry and Alannah. He will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews and cousins.
After retirement Jimmy loved traveling worldwide and learned ballroom dancing. Ballroom dancing was an absolute joy for him and Barbara.
Jimmy was a passionate fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs. He rarely missed a game. He watched the Leafs win their last Stanley Cup in 1967 and has been rooting for them ever since. Unfortunately, they did not fulfill his wish to see the Toronto Maple Leafs win another Stanley Cup.
Jimmy will be greatly missed by his wife, his family and all who knew him. He will be forever in our hearts.
Visitation is at York Funeral Centre, 160 Beecroft Rd. in Toronto on Tuesday October 15 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service from 11 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at York Cemetery. A reception will be held at the centre from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
