In memory of

James Hubert Prince

April 19, 1935 -  September 29, 2023

It is with great sadness that the family of Jim Prince announces his passing, at the age of 88, on September 29, 2023, of leukemia. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Marilyn; his children, Karen, David, and Gregory; grandchildren, Louis, Maya, Samantha, Sydney, Isabel, and Malcolm; daughters-in-law, Catherine and Sara; and son-in-law, Sean. Jim lived a happy and full life. Born on April 19, 1935, he grew up in Toronto's West End, where he was raised by his grandmother. He showed early promise as an artist, and after graduating from Western Tech's art programme, exhibited at prestigious galleries and museums, including the AGO in Toronto, and the Hirshhorn Museum at the Smithsonian Institution in the US. Using his artistic talents to support himself and his family, he enjoyed a long career as a graphic artist. In semi-retirement, he returned to painting, and now his watercolours and acrylics hang in many public and private collections. Throughout the years, Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He and Marilyn spent many happy years at their cottage, and travelled extensively throughout the world, most recently focusing on the artist colony of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Please share your memories of Jim at an informal service and reception to celebrate his life at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre (375 Mt. Pleasant Road, east side), visitation 12:30 - 1 p.m., with service to follow at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 6, 2023.
