In memory of

James Gin Hang Quan

October 4, 1935 -  March 9, 2022

James Gin Hang Quan (關振鵬) unexpectedly went to be with Jesus on March 9, 2022, at the age of 86. He passed peacefully and quickly at Centenary Hospital in Scarborough, Ontario.

James was a beloved husband to Joanne, supportive father to Cindy & Jason and Tim & Marilyn, and loving grandfather to Zoe, Tobe, Keira, Asher and Nevaeh. He was a friend of many and faithful servant of the Lord.

James was a life long learner. He obtained multiple technical degrees over the course of ten years. While he pursued engineering work for many years, he cherished his 18 years teaching, influencing and inspiring students at Humber College. His great love for Jesus was shown through learning, studying, and teaching the Bible to his church community.

Family and serving at church were his priorities. He intentionally chose a career which maximized time with family and provided opportunities to faithfully serve at Brampton Chinese Baptist Church for more than 30 years. Externally he appeared reserved, but relationships -- eternal treasures where moth and rust do not destroy -- were convictions he held early on.

Though he loved to formally teach, he shared his passions of photography, fishing, nature, DIY projects and electronic gadgets through shared experiences with his family and friends.

James will be deeply missed by all who knew him. For those who share his faith in Christ, we rejoice knowing "he fought the good fight, he finished the race, he kept the faith", and has returned to his eternal home in heaven.

I greatly appreciated James's testimony for Jesus throughout his life. His consistency in serving and teaching is part of his legacy. While we miss him, because of Jesus (and James's trust in him), we will see him on the other side of eternity.
