March 2, 1936 -  June 4, 2022

Passed away at the Lakeridge Oshawa Hospital, after a lengthly courageous battle with cancer, on June 4,2022. Jackie Usher (Padbury) was in her 86th year. Beloved wife of George, married for 66 years. Dear mother of, Norah Jean Mitchell (Ken), Karon Penny Stadler (Len), and Richard George Usher (Kim). Lovingly remember by her 9 grandchildren, Tyler, Jennifer, Jacqueline, Brent, Chad, Justin, Kevin, Mitchell, Reid and fondly remember by her 9 great grandchildren. A special sister to Jean Hodgins and special cousin to Janet Hedegaard.
Jackie loved her 51 years on Oak Lake, where she loved to swim and watch her family grow. She was passionate about gardening and enjoyed watching the birds. Jackie took pleasure in working with others, as a swimming instructor and a girl guide leader. She always had a positive approach to life, seeing the best in everyone. Jackie was known for her wisdom, which she shared with her children. Her oatmeal cookies, strawberry short cake and banana cake were legendary.
Jackie was one of the kindest people you could ever meet, she opened her heart and home to many family and friends over the years and she will be sorely missed.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life at the grave site in Mount Pleasant Cemetery at 1 pm followed by a Gathering at the Funeral Centre from 2-4 pm on Saturday, June 25th. Please meet us in the main parking lot between the Cemetery Office and the Funeral Centre at 12:30 pm. We will then proceed to Section 28 together.
Instead of flowers we ask that you donate to the Oshawa Lakeridge Health cancer centre at http://www.liveheregivehere.ca/ in Jackie’s name.

When I think of Jackie, my first thought is how wonderful she was, and how we always were at her house on Christmas Eve, with what seems like a million people to a very shy (although extremely cute blonde boy). It felt like that town house had 10 floors. And then I remember all the time at Oak Lake. Truly happy times and memories for me. We were all lucky to have Jackie in our lives.

Jackie will be sadly missed . She was a constant in our lives as a neighbor at the cottage and being across the street from Penny , her daughter and Lenny her son in law and their 3 children in Courtice . , also around the corner from her other daughter Nonie and husband Ken and their 3 children . We were always treated as family and with lots of love. What an honour it was to have known her and shared so many beautiful family times together. We have lost a lovely friend and lady . What a legacy she has left .
