Jacob Koolman passed away peacefully on November 22, 2023.  The loving husband of Janna for over 69 years.  Beloved father of Marja (Geoffery), Jan (Glynis) and Brian (Tawny).  Proud grandfather of Christopher (Lisa), Justin (Amanda), Adriana (George), Luke (Sarah) and Lillian.  Great grandfather to Zachary, Joshua and Claire.  

Jacob was born into a large family on December 8, 1927 in Sussenheim, the Netherlands.  Resourceful and full of life he followed in his father footsteps and became an upholsterer, working side by side for many years.  Drafted into the Dutch Marines after World War II he served in Indonesia with distinction.
 
Married to Janna in 1953, the couple started a successful upholstery business together while raising a family.  They emigrated to Canada in 1962, where they continued to build a wonderful life for themselves and their children.  Once in Canada, Jacob worked tirelessly to provide for his family, but also found time to indulge his creative side.  He created many stunning models, pieces of furniture and bird carvings.  

In retirement, he enjoyed his return visits to Holland with Janna, and travelled to many places in Europe. He was equally fond of exploring his adopted country of Canada.

Proud of his Dutch heritage he contributed too many community events, and never missed making oliebollen for New Years.  In their later years Janna and Jacob enjoyed their lives at Holland Christian Homes cherishing their many friendships.  He will be truly missed by his family, and friends at Holland Christian Homes and in the Brampton community.
