In memory of

Jabbar Ghafarzadeh-Bakhshayesh

October 2, 1950 -  October 30, 2022

Jabbar Ghafarzadeh-Bakhshayesh – dedicated husband, a father of three, a grandfather, a brother, an uncle and a friend to many passed away on October 30, 2022 after a hard graceful battle with cancer at home surrounded by family.

Jabbar was born on October 2, 1950 to Asghar and Beigom-nessa in Haris, Iran. He graduated from AIT in 1975 with a bachelor’s degree in engineering before starting his outstanding career in the field. His contribution to the engineering world and our society is truly some of his superb achievements in life. To name a few, his remarkable work with the Framatome Team to implement safety measures in nuclear facilities in Ontario, to reduce radiological exposure in the event of a Fukushima style accident, and production of life saving medical isotopes to fight cancer are the accolades of his career that will live on beyond his years.

In 1981, Jabbar met Soheila his beloved wife of 42 years. Together they have three children Alireza, Maryam and Laleh and two grandchildren, Heeva and Hanna. The Family moved to Canada in 2002 to pursue a better life where he resided for the rest of his life. His family home was his sanctuary filled with plants, trees and flowers that brought enormous joy and an infectious smile to his face. The literal fruits of his labor were the source of joy for many of his friends and family.
At work he was known as a scholar, a gentleman and a confident leader of others and some referred to him as "the old breed".
For his family, he was a true pillar of strength and a guiding light. His memory and strength, his humanity, loyalty and honesty will live in our hearts forever.
