It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ivy Lois Balkissoon of Toronto, Ontario.

Surviving family members: Dr. Mahadeo Balkissoon M.D. (husband), Ronald Balkissoon (son) - (Jan Buchanan), Krishna Balkissoon (son) - (Kristi Heacock), Kamala Balkissoon (daughter) - (Rose Brown), Devanand Balkissoon (son) -(Trona Balkissoon)

Grand Children: Taylor Balkissoon, Connor Balkissoon, Nathan Balkissoon, John Balkissoon, Alicia Balkissoon

Lois (or Loi as her mother used to call her) moved to Montreal, from Jamaica, with her mother at the tender age of 14 in 1951. The pair would later move to Toronto. It was there, at a friend’s party in the early 1960’s, that Lois would meet Mahadeo (Maha) — her future husband. Over the course of the next 60+ years, the two would build life full of love.

They spent the majority of the time in the same home in midtown Toronto. There Lois raised their four children and made a wonderful home and environment for them to grow. If you had ever had the opportunity to join one of their family dinners you knew what is like to be in a home full of love.

Lois was the centre of it all. Family was the focus of her life and she was dedicated to her husband, her children, and grandchildren. “Amma” you will be greatly missed; we all love you so much.
