I have fond memories of Ivor and Marg Rooney and their daughter Diane, when I was growing up as close neighbours on Medhurst Road, East York. I extend by sincerest condolences to his family.
Diane my condolences to you and your family on the loss of your dad.
While I did not have the pleasure of meeting Ivor in person, I have heard many fond stories through Ryan and Erin. From the way they spoke of Ivor, I know he was greatly loved And will be truly missed.
On behalf of The Queen's Own Rifles of Canada Association (Toronto Branch) are deepest condolences to The Rooney family on the passing of one of our Rifleman Ivor Rooney. Will We Remember Him. RIP Sir.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Ivor's Mother and my Mother were sisters, so we were first cousins.
I have many great memories of Ivor. - While overseas, Ivor was one of the Queen's Own Rifles troops given "air time" to speak to his family back in Canada. As he spoke, he mentioned many family members by name, including myself. I sat on the floor listening to our floor model radio. It was quite a thrill for me, a little girl back in the early 40s. When the war was over, I was Ivor and Marg's junior bridesmaid when they married.
All my love to Diane and family at this very sad time.
