Ivan Sutej

December 9, 1936 -  May 4, 2022


It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Ivan on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at the age of 85 years. Beloved husband of 60 years to Darinka Šutej. Loving father to daughter Božica (Toni), son John and daughter Emily (Mike). Loved by his grandchildren, Danijel, Robert, Adam and Olivia. Dear brother to Zvonko who is predeceased (Anica), Miljenko (Ruža), Katica (Vlado) and Marica (Pero). Ivan was a truly remarkable person who will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all of his family and friends in Canada, Croatia, United States, Australia and all whose lives he touched.

My deepest sympathy to Darinka, Bozica, John and Emily and their families. I hope that the lovely memories you have of Ivo will help ease the sadness you feel.

Twenty-five years ago I visited Canada (from Australia) and met for the first time my father's brother, sisters and their families. I will always remember the lovely time I spent at Easter in 1997 with Ivo and the extended family.

Sadly I lost my father Zvonko last year. I know that Zvonko and Ivo have reunited as brothers and are sharing time together once more.

Dear Darinka, Mary, John and Emily and to the entire Sutej family - we are so sorry for your loss. Ivan was a very good man, hard working and devoted to his family. His struggles from his stroke only showed us how loving and caring his family were in looking after him for over 20 years. Especially Darinka who is the most devoted, loving and caring wife and caregiver. God bless Ivan and may he finally find peace and health in heaven.
