In memory of

Irene Smith

March 22, 1947 -  June 15, 2021

Passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, June 15th, 2021 at the age of 74. Irene fought a courageous, short and extremely brave battle with cancer. She was a loving and devoted wife to Jerry (predeceased) whom she missed dearly. It gives the family some peace to know that they are now reunited. Caring mother to Roxanne (Barrett) and Darren (Krista). The most amazing and doting Nanny to Devin, Nevada and Weston. Sister to Mildred (Edgar), Warick (Wendy), Betty (Roger), Edna (Kev), Jerry, and Shirley (Eric). Adoring aunt to many nieces and nephews. She will forever be remembered by many for her kind, caring and loving heart.

A special thank you to Kim Gallant for her compassion, care and the love she showed the family and Irene in her final days. Thank you to the oncology team at Scarborough General Hospital for their support and guidance over the last 8 months.

As Irene wished; following cremation she will be returned to Newfoundland and placed to rest with Jerry.

Didn’t know Irene really well, but I know she had the biggest heart. The love and care she had for her family was unparalleled. And she was equally loved back by them .
So sorry to you all for such a huge loss.
Much love and strength are wished for everyone in the days to come.
