Irene’s family is deeply saddened to announce her passing on February 23, 2023 at the age of 63.
Irene will be lovingly remembered by her siblings Lorraine (Ming Lam), David, Claire (Carlos Santos), her nieces and nephew Justine (Mo Gassim), Madison, Cadence, Matthew, and her dearest friends Franca Henry and Darlene Gould. She was affectionately known by many simply as “Auntie Ween”.
Irene was predeceased by her parents, Robert Seizo and Tsuyoko Ohashi.
Irene faced many health obstacles in her life, and against this headwind, she showed us the true meaning of strength. She was a true fighter. She taught us the benefits of living life to the fullest, something that most people never truly take to heart until misfortune strikes. Irene was happy, kind and generous beyond belief. It’s no exaggeration to say that she would have been willing to give you her last dollar if she thought you needed it. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for her family and friends. She treated everyone equally, and wholeheartedly cherished everyone in her life. Her love and warmth enveloped you like a cozy hug on a chilly day. This is, without a doubt, one of the things we will miss most.
Irene was always the life of the party and would be the first to stand up and dance the night away. Her extensive travels, including dozens of visits to Las Vegas, should give you a sense of her carefree attitude and desire to live each day as if it were her last. We hope everyone can channel a bit of Irene’s joie du vivre into their own lives.
A Celebration of Life to honour Irene will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023.
Location: York Funeral Centre, 160 Beecroft Rd, Toronto
Service: 10:00 a.m.
Reception to follow
In lieu of flowers, an act of generosity such as a donation to your favourite charity would be much appreciated. Helping those in need would be a fitting way to pay tribute to someone as selfless as Irene was to all those in her life.
This event will be broadcast live via this memorial site.
