In memory of

Ioannis Theofilaktidis

January 10, 1938 -  January 12, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Ioannis "John" Theofilaktidis on January 12, 2025 in Toronto, Canada.

John was the third born of 10 children to parents Taso and Palasi on January 10, 1938 in Dipotamos, Kavala, Greece and came to Toronto with his wife Sofia and young daughter Patricia in 1964.

John proudly worked most of his life at Inglis, and was a dedicated employee with strong work ethics. John was well-liked at work, and quickly made many friends.

Outside of his work, John found joy in playing his Kemenche (Lyra). He loved playing for family and friends, and happily answered the call when asked to perform at dances and weddings. He selflessly gave his time to make others happy. When others were happy, John was happy.

John was also known as the Master of Tavli (backgammon). You'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who could beat him.

He was well-respected in the Greek community. It seemed like everyone knew John, and John knew everyone.

John's greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

His home was a great place where many gatherings were had and laughter was freely shared and abundant.

Many will fondly remember John for his unwavering commitment to his family and community. He was always there when you needed him.

John left behind a legacy that will continue on through everyone who was blessed enough to know him.

John is survived by his wife Sofia, his children Patricia (Luis), Anthoula (Theodoros), Parthena, Gus (Effie) and Taso (Mary), along with his 5 grandchildren, Stevie (Alison), Johnny (Joanne), Tommy (Samantha), Christina and John, and his 8 great-grandchildren, Alessandre, Luka, Dimitra, Stevie, Nicolas, Mihalia, Abigail and Ava, who will cherish his memory forever.

John will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

We thank you, and love you, for the wonderful memories you gave us all.
