In memory of

Inge Ingrid M. Rentola

October 19, 1935 -  June 17, 2019

In loving memory of Inge Ingrid Miriam Rentola

It is with deep sadness that we are announcing the passing of Inge Ingrid Miriam (Polvi) Rentola on Monday, June 17, 2019 at Scarborough General Hospital, at the age of 83. Predeceased by her parents, Toivo and Irja Polvi, her sister and brother-in-law Irma and Bill Niemi, and her daughter, Dawn Piccone. Beloved wife of 62 years, to Eino Rentola. Cherished by her children, Ron and his wife Wosen, Kim and her husband Allan, Dawn’s husband Angelo, and Laurel Ann and her husband Doug. Adored grandmother of Elias and his wife Sara, Jenn and her husband Paul, Gary, Daniela, Christina, Marissa, Damon, Jessy, and Jacob. Proud great-grandmother to Sophia, Cameron, Taylor, and Ella. Loving Aunt to her nephews and niece, Calvin, Harold, and Lia and their families. Cousin to so very many here in Sudbury, Northern Ontario, and in Finland.

She loved her church family and friends. They were her extended family in Christ and she dearly loved them all. Fond memories and stories were often shared of learning together about our Lord and Saviour through Bible study, services, cooking, sing-songs, and just living.

Mom grew up in Northern Ontario. To introduce herself, she often said that she was, ‘from the farm.’ She loved and lived simply and deeply. Mom’s dry humour would often make people do double takes. Her farm perspective allowed her to ‘cut to the chase,’ and to view things from another’s perspective. Often, she’d be telling people, “but you have to understand, that’s how they are, we have to love and forgive them anyways.” She was mischievous, silly, dignified and an adventurer all rolled into one.

At the age of 15, Inge Rentola, moved to Toronto to live with her sister and to go to hairdressing school. Later, she owned and ran three beauty salons and a hat shop.

She was also the beloved founder, principal, and teacher at Three Fishes Christian Elementary School and previously owner/director of Three Little Fishes Day Nursery. The staff, volunteers, students, and their families were also part of her family and were loved deep in her heart.

Mrs. Rentola’s love for others was evident in how she became “Momma” to church family, neigbhours, friends, strangers, and even fellow patients in the hospital before she went home to be with the Lord. Most importantly, she learned, stumbled, forgave, and grew alongside of us. She taught, helped, healed, challenged us to grow, and loved everyone that God brought into her life. May we honour and respect her life by seeking Christ more deeply and to live the life He calls us to.

So, it is NOT that we are saying, “goodbye,” but, “see you soon.”

Visitation and the funeral are both at Pine Hills Cemetery and Funeral Services.

For our family, especially two of our sons and our daughter who had the privilege to attend TFCES, Mrs. Rentola represented, strength & perseverance in the calling the Lord had placed on her life. Her love for teaching and for impacting others with the love of Jesus, was clearly demonstrated throughout her lifetime.
We are deeply sorry to hear of her passing away, but we have that full assurance that she is now enjoying the presence of Her Lord, Savior & Master, Jesus Christ, until we see her again in her glorious body.

Thessalonians 4:13-14
Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him.

Inge will always be remembered fondly for her kindness, strength and firm gentle leadership. No matter how raw or unsure I felt when I arrived there was always a firm hug, a deep soul searching ‘look’, and a wonderful reassurance that I was safe, and sound and surrounded by love. Inge was truly a blessing. I will be forever grateful to her for her guidance, acceptance and love.

Mrs. Rentola, you have impacted the lives of our family and have made a lasting imprint on us. You and your school have paved the way for my children, and I will forever be indebted to you, your family and to Three Fishes. You will forever be in our hearts. See you in Paradise.
